Sunflowers

Sunflowers are the newest member of the Advanta seed family in the United States.

In 2008, Advanta acquired the sunflower seed business from Limagrain in the US. Already a market leader across Asia-Pacific, Africa and Latin America, this acquisition further strengthens our position as one of the leading sunflower breeding programs in the world.

With a business center in Fargo, North Dakota, Advanta is well placed to serve customers in both the United States and Canada. Developments in sunflower breeding and biotechnology in North America will also be used to expand service to our international markets. But, above all, Advanta intends to capitalize on the best of our worldwide germplasm to meet the needs of sunflower growers here in North America.

Our product offerings include mid-oleic content NuSun® hybrids which offer excellent agronomic performance in what we believe will be a growing market for the highly desirable, healthy mono-unsaturated sunflower oil. The NuSun line of hybrid sunflowers are especially well-adapted to High Plains growing conditions and perform well in both dry-land and irrigated conditions.  Additionally, we offer high oleic, traditional oil and confection hybrids.  We also offer Clearfield versions of these hybrids with solid agronomic packages and high levels of disease resistance.
