Our History
Today’s Advanta is the culmination of dreams by three men: S.L. Garrison; Harvey Garrison, his son; and Arthur M. Stoy.
Garrison Seed & Co. Inc. was founded in Hereford, Texas, in 1967, to produce seed on contract for seed companies. The new company quickly earned a reputation for producing top-quality grain and forage sorghums. Garrison Seed addressed growing demand by developing its own product line in the mid-1970s. The company soon grew to seven-and-a-half times its original size.
A larger company purchased Garrison Seed in 1989, but the original owners bought it back two years later. The company returned to its roots and built a strong reputation for research and development of hybrid grain sorghum, forage sorghum and sudangrass. Its products can be found in fields throughout the United States, as well as South and Central America, Mexico, the Middle East, the Far East and India.
In March 2008, the company joined forces with global leader Advanta to provide even greater resources to its customers.

The Advanta name is recognized around the world as a leader in seed research and development.
Advanta is an India based global seed company that combines the benefits of agricultural biotechnology with the proprietary crop genetics and excellent breeding capabilities of the company to offer world class high quality seed products and solutions to the farmers in different parts of the world. It markets a broad range grain and forage sorghum products throughout the Indian sub continent, Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe and Latin America. Advanta has over 700 employees and is represented in more than 30 countries. Advanta is a member of the United Phosphorous Group of Companies.
Our Leadership
Advanta US has hybrid grain and forage sorghum research, production, conditioning and sales operations from a base in Hereford, Texas. The company markets through private label brands that are sold throughout the United States, Italy, the Middle East, Pakistan, Mexico, Central America, South America and Japan.
